Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest for international passengers, will continue restricting foreign airline operations until at least May 31, according to letters sent to carriers and obtained by Reuters.
The move deals the biggest blow to Indian airlines, which operate some of the most heavily trafficked routes between South Asia and the Gulf. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have all confirmed schedule reductions or temporary suspensions on Dubai services.
The restrictions come after weeks of flight disruptions triggered by Iranian military operations in the region. While a ceasefire was announced earlier this week, aviation authorities have maintained cautious airspace management, with EASA continuing to monitor conditions.
Saudia has announced it will resume select flights to Dubai and Abu Dhabi from April 11, but capacity remains well below pre-conflict levels. Emirates has restored operations to over 100 destinations but warned of continued schedule adjustments.
For residents, the practical impact is clear: fewer flight options, higher fares on available routes, and uncertainty for anyone planning travel in the coming weeks.
